How Alto’s social CRM works. Contacts that fill themselves in.
When your campaigns or AI agent talk with someone, Alto saves them with their name, handle and profile photo. Emails and phone numbers they share in the chat are added for you.
Each contact keeps a timeline: the comment or message that started it, the campaigns they entered, the links they opened and, with Calendly or Cal.com connected, what they booked.

What is a social CRM?
A social CRM keeps track of the people your business talks to on social media: who they are, how to reach them and what happened in each conversation. Alto builds those records for you from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and WhatsApp.
How do people get into my contacts?
Alto adds the people your campaigns and AI agent talk to, anyone who sends an email address in a DM, and everyone who chats with you on WhatsApp. People who mention you in an Instagram post or on your Facebook Page are added too.
What does a contact record show?
Everything you need to pick up the conversation: who they are, how to reach them, the lists they’re on and your team’s notes. A timeline shows what they commented, messaged and clicked, and what they booked through Calendly or Cal.com.
Can I tag and segment my contacts?
Yes, with lists, which work as your tags. Add people one at a time or in bulk, or let campaigns, button taps and your AI agent add them for you. Then filter your contacts by list or by how recently they were active.
Can my team work from the same contacts?
Yes. Everyone in your workspace sees the same contacts. Assign a contact to a teammate, keep notes on what matters and open the conversation straight from their record.
Can I export my contacts?
Yes. Download a CSV of every contact that matches your filters, or only the ones you select, with their emails, phone numbers and follower counts.
Does it work with Klaviyo, Kit and other email tools?
Yes. When a campaign or your AI agent collects someone’s email, Alto can add them to Klaviyo, Kit, Beehiiv or Flodesk. Zapier can pass them on to your other tools.
Can I use Alto as an Instagram CRM?
Yes. Instagram contacts keep their handle, profile photo and follower count, show whether they follow you, and list the comments, Story replies and DMs that brought them in, beside your contacts from Facebook, TikTok and WhatsApp.
What happens when someone asks you to stop?
If they reply STOP or ask to unsubscribe, Alto marks them as do not contact and turns off automated messages to them. Their contact shows it, and your team can still reply by hand.
Is the social CRM on the free plan?
The Contacts screen, lists and export are part of Pro, and UNLIMITED doesn’t include them. Alto still saves the people your campaigns reach on every plan, so upgrading shows everyone you’ve already collected.
