Alto supports six Instagram campaign types: Auto Comment to DM, Stories to DM, Story Mention Reply, Live to DM, DM keyword replies and the AI DM Agent. Around them you can add public comment replies, follow checks, email and phone capture, follow-up sequences, moderation and team handoff.
Alto connects through Meta’s official login and APIs, so you never share your password. It only messages people who commented, replied or messaged you first, and it paces sends within Instagram’s limits.
Yes. Instagram automation works with professional accounts, either Business or Creator. Switching is free in Instagram under Settings → Account type.
You write the wording. Public replies rotate between your variations, mention replies can be limited and delayed, and you can test up to three opening messages. The AI DM Agent answers from the knowledge and voice you approve.
Yes. Ask for an email or phone number in the conversation, with permission. Alto checks the format before saving it to the contact and can send it on to Kit, Beehiiv, Flodesk, Klaviyo or Zapier.
Yes. Alto can share the product pages, checkout links and payment links you approve, and with Shopify connected it can recommend products, share approved discount codes and look up orders. Alto doesn’t create checkouts itself.
Yes, when your Instagram account is connected through a Facebook Page. Comments on eligible ads can start a comment-to-DM campaign for one ad or all ads. Ad campaigns aren’t available for accounts connected with Instagram Login.
The agent answers from approved knowledge and connected tools. When that isn’t enough, it can ask a clarifying question or hand the conversation to your team with a summary, instead of inventing an answer.
Yes. Open the conversation in the shared inbox, pause Alto, and reply yourself or assign a teammate. The history and contact details stay together, and you can hand the conversation back to Alto later.
Yes. The Free plan includes core automations for up to 1,000 active contacts a month. AI agents, follow-up sequences and the Social CRM are part of Pro.
